Pepe in the book as the goals dry up

I've already explained why Portugal have all the tools to go on and win this inaugural Nations League but Switzerland can prove to be a tough cookie. With that in mind, extra time and/or penalties may be needed, meaning I'm not too keen on the 8/13 that the hosts win this in 90 minutes.

At a slightly bigger price (8/11), I prefer under 2.5 goals. Portugal, for all their attacking talent, are actually a side who enjoy playing cat-and-mouse style football, keeping things tight, always looking to score on the break and knowing how lớn defend leads when they get them. Since the World Cup their eight matches across international friendlies, qualifiers and Nations League games resulted in six under hai.5 matches.

Switzerland's games have actually been a bit more high-scoring of late but that appears lớn be more of a short-term trend lớn do with the sides, like Belgium, who they were playing. Teams who themselves are normally involved in matches with goals.

A more useful indication of how this game might pan out is the head-to-head between the two.

All five of their last matches against one another stayed 'unders'. Two 2-0 wins for Switzerland, a 1-0 and 2-0 win for Portugal and a 1-1 draw. 'Unders' it is.

Portugal's 'marmite' defender Pepe certainly hasn't mellowed with age. Now back at Porto where he first made a name for himself, he's every bit the ferocious, some would say cynical, uncompromising defender that made him the star of so many Youtube videos while at Real Madrid. Videos featuring him kicking lumps out of a variety of La Liga opponents though more often than not, Lionel Messi.

Some will say he's a bit of a disgrace and should have been sent off a lot more than he has been. Others will say that picking up cards and roughing up opponents is just part and parcel of being a defender. He was certainly outstanding at Euro 2016 and arguably should have been the Player of the Tournament.

But back to his disciplinary record. His last 13 matches this season resulted in seven bookings but of even greater interest lớn us is his record playing for Portugal. He saw yellow in each of his last three appearances for his country: against Serbia, Poland and Italy. That will do us just fine when backing a 13/5 shot.
